Cách tính các chỉ số trên Container

Mã chủ sở hữu. Bao gồm 4 chữ cái La - tinh, chữ thứ tư luôn là chữ U. Ví dụ: MAEU là mã của hãng Maersk Lines; OCLU là mã của hãng Peninsula & Oriental Shipping Co; TRIU là mã của hãng Triton; VNLU là của Vinaline; KNLU P & O Nedlloyd; NOLU Neptune Orient; SEAU; Sealandl; GSTU Genstar leasing,vv... Mã chủ sở hữu được đăng ký tại Bureau International des Conteneur (BIC), Paris hoặc các tổ chức Đăng kiểm quốc gia thành viên (BIC là tổ chức phi chính phủ, được thành lập từ năm 1933 và tái lập vào năm 1948, nó hoạt động như người thay mặt ISO).

Số seri. Gồm 6 chữ số ả rập, được đánh số bởi chủ sở hữu, ngay sau khi container xuất xưởng, nó thường là số kế tiếp theo số của container sản xuất kế trước. Nếu chủ container có ít hơn 100.000 container, hoặc nếu hệ thống đánh số không có đủ 6 số, thì có thể điểm thêm hoặc 00,20 hoặc 40 vào đầu.

Số kiểm tra: là số thứ 11 tiếp theo 10 ký tự trên, được tính toán để chứng minh sự chính xác của 10 ký tự trước (4 chữ cái và 6 chữ số sê - ri). Và như vậy, nó phải được viết như là một phần của mã ID. Trên vỏ container, nó thường được in trong khung sơn chữ



Tính theo

công thức 2^(x-1)



 
Từ công thức ta  suy ra và có thể tính như sau: lâý lần lượt 1, 2,4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512.
Nhân ( x )với lần lượt các chỉ số theo dãy số ứng với từng chữ và số trên container
Sau đó cộng (+)các kết quả lại với nhau (= A)rồi chia cho 11, sau đó lấy phần nguyên nhân lại với 11(=N), sau đó lấy A trừ (-) cho N là ra chỉ số thứ 11.
VD: có A, A:11=123,345, lấy 123x11=N, sau đó lấy A-N= số thứ 11.
Hoặc lấy tổng chia cho 11, lấy số dư là số thứ 11(áp dụng cho chia bằng tay) J
